We can’t control everything in life. If you are driving a leased vehicle, you may have unexpected circumstances that prompt you to leave your lease early, and not finish the lease agreement. If you need to get out of a car lease, you do have a few options, but it is something you want to consider carefully.

When you lease a vehicle, one of the benefits is the low monthly payments. Part of the trade-off is the agreement to keep the car for a specified period of time. Because of depreciation, it is not in the leasing company’s best interest for you to return your car early. Don’t expect to walk into the leasing company, drop off the keys, and be done with it. Usually, the leasing company will require you to pay all of the remaining lease payments that are due on your contract, plus an early termination fee. You’ll still be paying for the privilege of driving the car, even if you return the vehicle. Most of the fees and penalties for early termination are found in your lease agreement. Its a good idea to get clear on those terms before you even take out the lease, and if you are considering breaking your lease, you will want to review the terms of the contract first.

One thing you don’t want to do is just return the car and refuse to pay. Your credit report will be negatively impacted, and the whole transaction will be listed as a repossession on your credit. In many cases, there are more attractive and viable options then returning the car and paying all of those extra fees, or taking a hit on your credit.

One option is to sell the vehicle yourself, and then use that money for the buy-off amount of the lease. You will want to do some research, and see what you could reasonably get for the car if you sold it to a third party. If its a similar amount to the buy-off amount, you could sell it, and then pay off the lease. This way, you will protect your credit, although you may still have to put in some of your own money, if there is a difference between what you sold the car for, and what you still owe.

Another option is to transfer your lease to a third party. This is called a lease assumption, and another individual takes over your lease, they handle the remaining payments, and return the vehicle at the end of the lease. This is a great option because you won’t have any penalties and once the lease is transferred, no responsibility toward the leasing company.

However, there is a variety of paperwork involved, and everything needs to be handled correctly for the lease assumption to be valid. Your leasing company will need to be involved, and needs to approve the transaction. The best way to find a third party, and have the transaction done properly, is to use one of the specialized companies that help lease buyers find lease sellers. These companies have websites where you can advertise your vehicle and lease terms to interested buyers, and they will process the paperwork and guide you through the transfer process. Of course, there will be a fee involved for the service, but it will be usually be less than what you would pay in lease termination penalties.

Terminating an auto lease can be more complicated and costly than starting one. Its important that you review the lease contract carefully, and take a look at your options before you make a decision on how to get out of your car lease. In many cases, a lease transfer option may be the best deal, but only if your leasing company allows a lease assumption.

Fast and flashy cars are an expensive item; in a time where money is tight the only way to be able to cruise around in your dream car realistically is through a vehicle hire company. Here we look at why personal car lease could be the best idea for someone wishing to drive the car of their dreams and review three big brands of car that could entice you in…

Deciding to go for personal car leasing could be for a number of reasons, perhaps you are going on holiday and wish to have a car that won’t break down on you in the middle of a foreign town. Perhaps you don’t fancy the stressful hustle and bustle of a foreign public transport system. Or maybe, you just need a vehicle to use for a while and don’t fancy the complicated decision of purchasing one permanently. Alternatively perhaps you have decided you would like to treat yourself to the car of your dreams and instead of forking out a small fortune you have decided to rent.

Trendy new cars tend to appeal to everyone; even people who say they are unbothered find themselves excitedly sitting in the comfortable leather seat of a new car feeling on top of the world. Cars can make such an impression and even if you aren’t bothered about what everyone else thinks of your car, it can make you happy personally. When I chose a personal car to lease I thought it was only going to be the once, but then I got the taste for it and got used to cruising around in a dream. Let’s look at some of my personal favourites and what makes them irresistible to a driver.

One car that caught my eye is the MY2003 Porsche Boxter S, which empowers both classic design with modern. For the petrol head, this car can reach sixty MPH in a time of 5.7 seconds with thanks to the 260 bhp from its 3.2 litre engine. This car was originally produced in 1997 with a 2.5 litre engine and drivers demanded a faster and more powerful version, this is it. The sound of the car alone could be described as a huge selling point, with the roof down in the open air you’re never going to want to listen to the stereo in the car again, as you have the perfect music playing behind you.

Another car that will draw any driver in is the Mercedes SLK. Slightly smaller than the SL the SLK350 has a 3.5 litre engine V6 and 272 bhp. This performance gives you 0-62 MPH in a small 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 155 MPH. The car is pert and small and definitely well built and will keep you cosy in long distances. The tin folding roof top also adds more security to the driver and a treat for those days when it would be a sin to not have the roof down.

Lastly, and probably my personal favourite, is the Aston Martin. If it is good enough for James Bond, it is good enough for me. The Aston martin DB9 is well known as one of the most desirable cars ever, the 450 bhp will get you to 0-62 in around 4.7 very short seconds and take you to speeds of 186 mph should you ever need to. Again, like the Porsche, the Aston Martin sounds amazing which is why it has created one of the biggest car comebacks in history.

All of these cars are hugely desirable, so why not be able to live the dream with personal car leasing, after all life is too short. Whether you wish to have a respectable and trendy Porsche to the utmost luxury of an Aston Martin, all this can be made possible with leasing.

These days, it has become easy to own items out of our price range, from clothes, to electrical goods and now even cars. Through the joys of financial leasing, we are able to effectively borrow items from high street stores and car dealers, on the agreement to pay back the value, plus interest. Just like taking a mortgage on a house, car leasing is an excellent way of being able to own what we can’t afford to buy outright, through the repayment of a few monthly directly debits.

Technically car leasing is a fancy way of saying you will be renting a car. However unlike hiring a car for a few days and making one payment upfront for the pleasure, car leasing involves a series of monthly instalments, usually over 12, 24 or 36 months. These instalments will reflect an interest rate as well as the depreciation of the value of the car you are leasing.

There are two kinds of car lease available, closed and open end leases. Closed end leases mean you continue with your repayments until the value has been paid and then you simply hand back the vehicle. However, depending on any excess mileage or wear and tear, there may still be some additional charges to cover at the end of the lease. If you decide you liked the car and want to buy it off the leasing company, you have the option to pay the residual value of the car (plus a processing fee). Most people tend to choose this option as it allows them to have something at the end of the payments.

If however, you are taking out a lease for commercial or business purposes, then you may wish to opt for an open ended lease. Here, the value of the car will be determined at the end of the contract, as opposed to the start of a closed end lease.

There are many reasons why car leasing benefits consumers. Driving around in a lease car means you can get your hands on a motor you couldn’t usually afford. Perhaps you have a large family and need the extra space that you couldn’t afford to pay for in one outright payment? Or perhaps you have moved to a rural area and need a car to get around but can’t afford to buy one? Or, maybe you just fancy an upgrade? With car leasing, all of these become possible.

Car leasing also means that monthly car payments are cheaper than what you would expect to pay on a purchase. This is because on a lease, you aren’t actually paying for the entire car, just a portion of its value over your lease period.

Car leasing also means you have lower costs to pay upfront. Usually the down payment is relatively low, compared to purchase cars.

While this all sounds great, there are still a few things to be aware of. Before you become signed into your lease, make sure you check if there are any early termination fees. Some leasing companies will require you pay off the remainder of the car lease contract before releasing you from the lease. Others will require a flat rate termination fee. Make sure you read all the fine print before signing on the dotted line.

Car leasing can also incur higher insurance rates as you are required to have more coverage than usual so be sure to check these rates.

Most leases will also have a limit on the number of miles you may drive, usually anywhere between 12,000 and 15,000 allowable miles per year. Excess miles will incur extra costs so if you are planning on covering a lot of distance, you may also need to enquire about the additional charges.

While there are a few factors to watch out for before you sign up to car leasing, these are not disadvantages. They are just points you should ask about before you drive away in your new car, so you know what you can expect from your contract.
